Puerto Rican Pro Baseball League finals open as Caguas take Game 1

The 2020-21 league champion will earn the status of the most successful club in the history of LBPRC.

The Criollos de Caguas shut out Indios de Mayaguez, 4-0, in Game One of the final series of the Puerto Rican Professional Baseball League (LBPRC, Liga de Béisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente -- WBSC Associate Member).

José De León, a 28-year old right-hander with Major League Baseball (MLB) experience (pictured above), earned the win, striking out 12 in six innings of work. MLB superstar Yadier Molina broke the score open in the first with a two-RBI triple against Héctor Hernández.

The Criollos are playing their home games in the iconic Hiram Bithorn Stadium in capital city San Juan. The Indios will regularly play in Mayaguez at the Isidoro ‘Cholo’ García.

LBPRC leadership informed that instant replay review will be available for all games.

The Criollos de Caguas and Indios de Mayaguez met last in the final series at the end of the 2013-2014 season. Both franchises hold 18 league titles. The 2020-21 league champion will thus earn the status of the most successful club in the history of LBPRC.
