The top 44 Puerto Rican players participated in the island’s Women’s Baseball All-Star Game this past October at Julio ‘Papo’ Dávila Stadium in Vega Alta. The players were split into two 22-player teams, representing the North and the South. The South team defeated their Northern rivals, 7-5, and catcher Tiesh Diaz was named the MVP of the game.

In the pre-game individual competitions, Joannellis Miranda won the longest-hit contest, while catcher Consuelo Payero was the winner in the throw-to-second -base competition.

The South scored six runs in the last three innings to clinch a 7-5 come-from-behind-victory. Diaz blasted a game-winning two-RBI single and grabbed the MVP award. Alondra Aguayo was the best pitcher of the game.

This year’s All-Star Game was dedicated to Roberto Santana, former Puerto Rico Women’s National Baseball Team manager and one of the driving forces of women’s baseball in the island.
