Puerto Rico claim Caribbean Baseball Cup in Bahamas

Puerto Rico and Curazao joined Mexico, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Cuba and El Salvador in the Central American and Caribbean Games 2023 Baseball competition.

Puerto Rico clinched the IV Caribbean Baseball Cup title after a 9-4 win over Cuba in the final contest of the tournament, played at the new Andre Rodgers Stadium in Nassau, Bahamas. Puerto Rico and Curazao qualified for the San Salvador 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games.

Puerto Rico lost their inaugural game against Curazao, but then went on a five-game winning streak (including pari of wins over Cuba and Bahamas) to finish the tournament with a 5-1 record.

“The team never gave up, despite losing the first game. The guys wanted it, they gave 100% on the field and now we’re the champions of the Caribbean Cup,” said Puerto Rico’s manager Juan Gonzalez.

Bahamas, Cuba, Curazao and Puerto Rico were represented in the All-Star Team.
