Rivas Gigantes win XIX Nicaragua Professional Baseball National League

Gigantes defeated Tren del Norte in six games, earning their fourth league title. Manager German Mesa tied at three Noel Areas and Sandor Guido for the most wins in the league's history. Dominican slugger Francisco Peguero earned MVP honours.

The Rivas Gigantes defeated Tren del Norte in the final series, 4-2, to win the XIX Nicaragua Professional Baseball National League (LBPN). It's the fourth title for the Gigantes.

The Gigantes clinched the pennant at home, winning Game Six in front of over 5,000 fans at the Yamil Rios Ugarte Stadium in Rivas. Jalen Miller went 5.2 innings for the win, allowing four runs on seven hits.

They had to come from behind to win the series. Tren del Norte won the opener and game three before Gigantes swept the rest of the series.

Gigantes' hitters combined a .302 batting average with six home runs and 39 runs batted in (RBIs).

Marcos Frias earned two of the four wins pitching out of the bullpen.

Former Major League Baseball (MLB) slugger Francisco Peguero, a native of the Dominican Republic, earned the final series MVP honours, going 11 for 28 with a .393 batting average, two home runs, and 10 RBIs.

The Gigantes Cuban manager, German Mesa, a former international baseball superstar, celebrated his third league title; he tied the late Noel Areas and Sandor Guido for the most pennants, becoming the best in the league's history among foreign managers.
