Roberto Ramos leaves KBO, signs minor league contract with Boston Red Sox

The 27-year old slugger hit 38 home runs in the 2020 season but suffered a back injury in 2021. The deal includes an invitation to Spring Training.

The Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB) signed to a minor league contract Mexican slugging outfielder and first baseman Roberto Ramos. The deal includes an invitation to Spring Training.

Ramos, 27, went to school in the United States and was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in 2014. After hitting 30 home runs at the Triple-A level in 2019, he signed a US$ 500,000 contract with the LG Twins of the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO).

The left-handed hitter starred in his first KBO season, hitting 38 home runs.

The Twins offered him an US$ 800,000 contract, plus $ 200,000 in incentives for the 2021 season which saw Ramos have limited playing time due to a back injury and hit only eight home runs.
