San Pedro de Macoris wins Dominican Republic U-12 National Baseball Championship

The champions defeated Laguna Salada, 5-1, in the final of the record 38-team tournament.

San Pedro de Macoris won Dominican Republic's U-12 Baseball National Championship, which was played from 25-28 March. A total record 38 teams participated in the event, which was organised by the Dominican Baseball Federation (FEDOBE, Federacion Dominicana de Beisbol). The champions defeated Laguna Salada in the final, 5-1, and finished the tournament unbeaten with a 5-0 record.

Right-handed pitcher Andrews Cadete was the winner of the final, pitching five complete innings. The loss was charged to Adrian Gutierrez. Third baseman Gregory Pie, who homered for San Pedro Macoris in the final and was responsible for the five runs scored by his team, was named the MVP of the tournament.

The tournament, played in the Duarte Province, was dedicated to the Dominican Republic Minister of Sport, Francisco Camacho.
