Baseball and softball are part of Santiago 2023’s Pan American Sports programme.

Santiago 2023 revealed the pictograms for the Pan American Games and the Parapan American Games in Chile’s capital. Each diagram represents one of the Pan American and Parapan American disciplines to be staged next year in Santiago.

The pictograms are inspired by the Andes mountain range, with the arms and legs of the pictograms representing the shapes of the mountains, a symbol of the South American country.

The 2023 Pan American Games are set to be held between October 20 and November 5 next year.

Santiago 2023 has announced that baseball will be played from 21-27 October, with softball following from 30 October to 4 November. Both sports will be played at Parque Bicentenario de Cerrillos, also the location for the Athletes Village.

Baseball has been part of the Pan American Games since the first edition that took place at Buenos Aires 1951. At Lima 2019, Puerto Rico claimed its first-ever gold medal, defeating Canada, 6-1, in the final.

Softball has been present at the Pan Am Games since Puerto Rico 1979. USA Softball won their ninth women’s softball gold medal at Lima 2019, while Argentina earned their first gold in the men’s softball event.
