Schedule, live-stream announced for South American Women’s Softball Championship in Buenos Aires

Argentina, Brazil, Curaçao, Guatemala, Peru and Argentina U-21 will compete in the regional tournament hosted in Buenos Aires from 4-11 June. All games will be live-streamed.

The official schedule of the South American Women’s Softball Championship has been unveiled, with six participating teams competing for the title. No. 16 Brazil, No. 22 Peru, No. 36 Guatemala, host/No. 48 Argentina and No. 51 Curaçao and Argentina’s U-21 team will compete in the 20-game tournament, to be played in Buenos Aires from 4-11 June.

The event will commence on Saturday, 4 June, with the games between Curaçao and Peru at 10:10 local time; Argentina U-21 vs Brazil at 12:40; and Guatemala vs Argentina at 15:30. The opening ceremony will be held at 14:30.

After a five-day round robin, the top four in the standings will advance to the playoffs (10-11 June), which will be staged under the page system. All 20 games will be live streamed; the details will be announced at a later stage.

The five participating nations are getting ready for the Americas World Cup Qualifier, to be staged from 12-19 November in Guatemala.

In the latest edition of this tournament in 2019, Curaçao scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to top Brazil, 6-5, in the final and clinch the South American title. The tournament was played in Ecuador. Colombia finished third place, followed by Argentina (4th), Peru (5th), Ecuador (6th), and Panama (7th).

This will be the first official international women’s softball event in Buenos Aires since 1985. From 22-30 October, Argentina will host the maiden WBSC U-23 Men’s Softball World Cup in Parana.
