Schedule announced for WBSC Blind Baseball International Cup as trophy, medals are revealed

The six-nation international tournament will be held on 20-21 August in Beek, Netherlands.

The WBSC unveiled today the trophy and medals for the inaugural Blind Baseball International Cup, the first-ever blind baseball event sanctioned by the WBSC. All prizes have the name of the tournament and the inscription “Cup Champions”, both printed and braille text.

The first edition of the international event will be held in Beek, Netherlands. Six National Teams will participate in the event:

  • Group A: Netherlands, Germany, USA
  • Group B: France, Italy, Great Britain

The top two finishers in each group will advance to the semifinals, and the winners will play for the title.

The opening round and the semifinals will take place on Saturday 20 August, with the bronze medal game and the final set to be played on Sunday 21. Full schedule here.

The WBSC aims to grow more international blind baseball events, with its Associate Member - The Italian Blind Baseball Association (AIBxC) - as part of its goal of having the discipline recognized by the International Paralympic Committee.

AIBxC, who founded the first national blind baseball league in Italy and now promotes the discipline worldwide, will be organising - with the assistance of the Dutch Federation KNBSB - the Blind Baseball International Cup, providing the technical management of the event, equipment and qualified personnel, while the Italy Baseball and Softball Federation is also supporting the tournament by providing all the officials (scorers and umpires) as well as two Italian team selections that will play a demonstration game on Saturday at 18:30.
