Schedule unveiled for first-ever Baseball5 African Championship
The tournament opens on 23 May in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. The continental championship will send the top two finishers to the inaugural WBSC Baseball5 World Cup.
Hosts Tanzania will have the honour of opening the first Baseball5 African Championship, which takes place at the National Stadium in Dar Es Salaam from 23-26 May, as the host nation takes on Egypt in the opening game.
The full opening round schedule was unveiled Monday. There will be a total of 29 games with eight games per day (maximum two games per day per nation) across pool play. The quarterfinals follow from 23-25 May, with the semifinals and finals set for the last day on 26 May.
The top two finishers of the continental championship will advance to the inaugural WBSC Baseball5 World Cup, to be played later this year.
The 10 participating National Teams of the Baseball5 African Championship have been split into two groups to start the tournament:
Group A: Zimbabwe, South Africa, Tunisia, Ghana, Kenya Group B: Egypt, Tanzania, Burkina Faso, Zambia and Uganda

The top four finishers of each group will advance to the elimination round.
The quarterfinals open at 3 pm local time on Wednesday, 25 May. The semifinals are scheduled at 9 am and 10.30 am local time on Thursday, 26 May.
The bronze medal game is scheduled for the same day at 1.30pm local time. The African Championship game will follow at 3 pm.
