On 10 May 2014, the WBSC elected its first Executive Board. "We will dedicate this day to our community to celebrate it together," said WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari during last weekend's Executive Board meeting. "A day to commemorate the unification of baseball and softball."

Six years ago today (24 November, 2017), the first ever Baseball5 tournament took place in Havana, Cuba.

Never before has a European programme climbed to the top of the WBSC World Rankings in either Baseball (Men or Women), Softball (Men of Women) or Baseball5 (Coed).

The Central Harbourfront Event Space in Hong Kong will host the 12-team II WBSC Baseball5 World Cup in late 2024.

The second edition of the Baseball5 European Championship will include 13 participants. France is the reigning European champion. The top two finishers will qualify for the WBSC Baseball5 World Cup 2024.

This was the fifth Olympic Week for baseball and softball, following appearances in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2022; and the third edition for Baseball5.

The WBSC Baseball5 World Rankings include 47 programmes in total across the five continents with No. 40 Australia and No 47 Togo featuring for the first time. Four continents are represented across the top four teams.

"The next WBSC Youth Baseball5 World Cup in 2025 will be a qualifier for the Youth Olympic Games and judging by the popularity of Baseball5 around the world, and especially in Africa, we expect it to be a massive hit with both fans and athletes," said President Fraccari.
