Shohei Ohtani featured on All-MLB First and Second Teams

The American League MVP, and a WBSC Premier12 star, will receive the trophy as the DH of the First Team and one of the starting pitchers of the Second. The National League MVP and USA U-18 National Team alum, Bryce Harper, also features on the First Team.

Two-way phenom, American League MVP Shohei Ohtani (Los Angeles Angels) is the only player who features on both First and Second All-Major League Baseball (MLB) Teams. Ohtani, who starred at the inaugural WBSC Premier12 before moving to the US, was voted the designated hitter (DH) of the First Team and one of the starting pitchers of the Second Team.

National League MVP Bryce Harper also features on the First Team as one of the outfielders. Harper, who plays for the Philadelphia Phillies, represented the US internationally at the U-18 Pan Am Games 2009.

Other notable international players featuring on the First Team are catcher Salvador Perez (Kansas City Royals), who represented Venezuela on the international stage, first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr (Toronto Blue Jays), who holds both Dominican and Canadian citizenships, and Australian reliever Liam Hendricks (Chicago White Sox).

Julio Urias (Los Angeles Dodgers) is one of the relief pitchers on the Second Team. He represented Mexico at the U-16 Baseball World Cup.

Free agent Raisel Iglesias is one of the relief pitchers on the Second Team. He represented Cuba internationally before moving to the US. The Second Team designated hitter (DH) Yordan Alvarez (Houston Astros) is also a Cuban native.

Kenley Jansen (Los Angeles Dodgers) is also one of the relievers on the Second Team. He was born in Curaçao and has represented the Kingdom of the Netherlands internationally.

The third annual All-MLB Teams were determined by a combination of voting from fans and a decorated panel of media members, broadcasters, former players and other officials throughout the game. Each player named to the All-MLB First or Second Team will receive a trophy to commemorate his selection.
