Six Teams undefeated at 15U Baseball World Championship after three Days

Chihuahua (Mexico). The I IBAF 15U Baseball World Championship in Chihuahua, Parral and Cuauhtémoc continued with day three on Saturday. Mexico, Chinese Taipei, Cuba, Brazil, Nicaragua and Venezuela are still undefeated. Nicaragua is the first team at three wins in the tournament. Thanks to another postponed due to rain between Cuba and Argentina had to re-schedule a couple of games with the make-up game to be played on Sunday.

Chihuahua (Mexico). The I IBAF 15U Baseball World Championship in Chihuahua, Parral and Cuauhtémoc continued with day three on Saturday. Mexico, Chinese Taipei, Cuba, Brazil, Nicaragua and Venezuela are still undefeated. Nicaragua is the first team at three wins in the tournament. Thanks to another postponed due to rain between Cuba and Argentina had to re-schedule a couple of games with the make-up game to be played on Sunday.

Also the Technical Commission decided to add an additional mercy rule (20 runs difference after four innings) starting on August 19, making adjustments to protect the safety of the players after the first three days of competition.

Italy 2 – Chinese Taipei 19

Chinese Taipei won their second game at the I IBAF 15U Baseball World Championship in Mexico. They downed Italy 19-2 in seven innings. They scored five runs in the second and nine in the fifth en route to a mercy rule shortened victory. Italy, which dropped to 1-1 in the tournament, only was able to avoid the shutout.

Aruba 0 – Nicaragua 15

Nicaragua improved to 3-0 at the I IBAF 15U Baseball World Championship, when they shut out Aruba 15-0 in five innings. Five runs in the first gave them an early and commanding lead. After extending the advantage to seven runs after three innings, they put four runs on the board in the fourth and fifth apiece to turn the contest into a blowout.

Brazil 16 – Hong Kong 0

Brazil celebrated their second shutout at the I IBAF 15U Baseball World Championship in Parral, Mexico. On Saturday they one-hit Hong Kong 16-0 in five innings. Ten runs in the fourth blew the score wide open. Shortstop Lucas Sakay resumed his great play at the plate from game one, going 3-for-3 with a walk, four runs and three RBI.

Germany 0 – Venezuela 16

One day after a shutout over the Ukraine, Venezuela also didn’t have any problems with the second European team in Group C. Playing in the afternoon in Cuauhtémoc they defeated Germany 16-0 in five innings. They scored in each of the first four frames, highlighted by an eight-run third. It was the third loss on the third day for Germany. Carlos Guzman and Nelson Hernandez kept Germany in check, allowing a combined three hits and three walks in five scoreless innings.

Cuba – Argentina postponed

The contest between Cuba and Argentina on Saturday evening in Parral was postponed after a couple of innings due to rain. It will be made up on Sunday at 7pm local time.

Mexico 14 – Honduras 1

Recap

Host Mexico stays on course at the I IBAF Baseball World Championship. After crushing Lithuania on Friday, they defeated Honduras 14-1 in seven innings. Jesus Brito retired 12 of the first 15 players to lead his team to the win. Ramsas Valladares couldn’t get anybody out in the first to take the loss. Seven Mexican runs in the sixth ended the game due to ten-run rule.
