The Czech Republic claimed a 17-0 win over India on Friday, on the back of Katerina Slanska’s perfect hitting performance at the II WBSC U-12 Softball World Cup at Jin-Long Stadium.
Slanska made three-of-three hits, with three runs and two
RBIs. Anezka Svobodova and Daniel Mach also contributed two RBIs each, and the
latter with an inside-the-park homer that highlighted the 12-run stint at the
bottom of the first inning.
The Czech Republic started off strong, first with Svobodova’s strong performance inside the pitching circle in the top of the first, followed by an aggressive hitting performance led by Slanska, Mach and Krystof Roll.
The rest of the batters continued to challenge the Indian pitchers, keeping the scoreboard ticking over until Mach’s inside-the-park homer got the crowd on its feet. Slanska and Roll scored the two runs that closed the productive 12-0 first inning for the Czech Republic.
The Europeans continued their offence charge in the second inning with five more runs before India made some adjustments on defensive, including a diving catch by first base Likitha Dayyala to close the inning before keeping Czech Republic scoreless in the third.
