Softball Asia's Executive Committee meets online, reviews activity in the region

Most of the countries could complete the domestic activity. Construction of the Asian Games baseball/softball venues proceeds. The mid-term Congress will be held online at the end of the year

Softball Asia held its virtual Executive Committee (EXCO) today, Wednesday, 14 October. The leaders of Asian softball reviewed the effects of this year's activity in the region, which has been shortened by the COVID-19 outbreak.

While 2020 international competitions have been indefinitely postponed, several countries and territories were able to stage domestic competitions.

The Chinese Softball Association completed a National Softball Championship and their National Trophy. The National Junior tournament is scheduled to start at the end of the week. Their National Slow-pitch tournament started in September and will end in December.

The Hong Kong (China) Softball Association will organise its softball league and university tournaments in November.

The Korean Baseball and Softball Association (KBSA) will stage its softball league in November. Two national tournaments were staged in June and September.

The Japan Softball Association's Japan Women's Softball League opened in September. The Men's Softball League is scheduled to start in November.

The Singapore Baseball & Softball Association organised a national women's softball tournament and is currently running a men's softball tournament.

The women's professional softball league of the Chinese Taipei Amateur Softball Association is heading to the finals. The induction ceremony of a WBSC Softball Hall of Famer is scheduled this weekend as well.

Softball Association of Thailand oversaw a masters tournament and is ready to start their university championship. The Thai Softball League will start in November.

Softball Asia will organize four WBSC World Cup Qualifiers in 2021. The U-23 Men's Softball Asia Cup and the Baseball5 Asia Cup will be scheduled in the first half of the year. The Men's Softball Asia Cup and the Asian Universities Women's Softball Asia Cup will be scheduled in the second half of 2021.

Chinese baseball and softball leaders have been in close contact with the Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 Organizing Committee (HAGOC). Construction for the new baseball/softball venues is progressing. HAGOC 2022 will be in touch with Softball Asia to appoint a Technical Delegate for the Asian Games and to plan test events.

The EXCO also decided that the upcoming Softball Asia Congress, which had been scheduled for December in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will now be held online. The exact date will be determined at a later stage. The Congress will follow the next meeting of the Executive Committee.
