Softball Australia has announced the appointment of Clare Warwick as the Aussie National Team Captain. Belinda White will serve as Vice-Captain.

Warwick, 35, has represented Australia 238 times. She plays shortstop but starred at third base for the University of Hawaii from 2006 to 2009. She later played in the Italian Softball League. Warwick has participated in five Softball World Cups.

White, 34, plays catcher. She has represented Australia 155 times. White played club competition in the Netherlands.

"We couldn't be prouder to have Clare and Bel take the reins of the Travelodge Aussie Spirit," commented Softball Australia CEO Rosie Williams. "They are both fierce competitors on the field and have demonstrated the sportsmanship and attitude we want as the 2024 World Cup comes into focus."

Softball Australia also announced the launch of Home Run Heroes. It's a brand-new participation product focused on providing a fun experience for kids to learn softball skills in schools and clubs across the country.

Home Run Heroes includes two programmes, Sidekicks and Superheroes, that initially focus on teaching 4-to-7-year-olds fundamental skills before introducing skill development and gameplay as part of the Superheroes programme for children aged 7-to-10.

Only Sidekicks will be rolled out initially, with Superheroes to be offered later this year.
