Softball Australia to host Tokyo 2020 National/Olympic Team selection camp in February

The Aussie Spirit qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics by winning the WBSC Softball Asia/Oceania Olympic Qualifier last year in Shanghai, China.

Softball Australia announced they will hold a National Selection Camp from 18 February - 3 March 2021 in Canberra.

The camp aims to provide the most competitive games and environment to support the selection process of the Australian National/Olympic Softball Team, particularly as Softball Australia will not be staging their 2021 league/season.

Australia’s best female softballers will take part in the camp, where they will be evaluated and take part in games to be hosted at the Hawker Softball Centre.

Australia and USA are the only two nations to have won a medal each time softball was featured at the Olympic Games, with a silver medal in Athens 2004 and bronzes in Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000 and Beijing 2008.

The Aussie Spirit, currently eighth in the WBSC Women's Softball World Rankings, qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics by winning the WBSC Softball Asia/Oceania Olympic Qualifier last year in Shanghai, China.
