A total of 16 teams, 10 in the men’s competition and 6 in the women’s event, started today the European Softball Masters Cup. The tournaments are being played in Barcelona. The finals will be played on Saturday, 30 October.
The 10-team men’s competition starts with the teams split into two groups. In Group A will compete Denmark Old Stars (DEN), Israel Tigers (ISR), United Prague (CZE), Sweden (SWE) and Les Gaulois (FRA). Group B will be played by Magos de Tenerife (ESP), Euskadi (ESP), Italia (ITA), Tempo Praha (CZE) and Royal Greys Grizzlies (BEL). Results, stats and schedule here.
The top teams in both group’s standings will face off in the final this Saturday at 7 p.m. The Italian squad is the defending champion.
The women’s tournament will be played via a single round robin, with the top two teams in the standings playing for the title on Saturday at 5 p.m. The six teams are Hungary (HUN), Classics (DEN), Italia LeZie (ITA), Dutch Old Stars (NED), Euskadi (ESP) and Sweden (SWE).
