Her Imperial Highness Princess Hisako Takamado was present today at ZOZO Marine Stadium to see Japan’s first playoff game of the tournament against Puerto Rico. The Princess arrived to the stadium at 18:00, and firstly went into the field to cheer the players from Japan and Puerto Rico, prior of the presentation of the teams.

She then met with WBSC President, Riccardo Fraccari, with whom she watched the game. They talked about the success of the WBSC Softball World Championship,  the hospitality of the Japanese people, and the historic baseball and softball’s return to the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 and their role in the Japanese society.

WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari commented “It was an honour to meet and talk with Her Imperial Highness Princess Hisako Takamado, she has great appreciation for sports, specially for Baseball and Softball. Her presence has brought the WBSC closer to the Japanese people once more.”

Present during the meeting and the game also WBSC Secretary General Beng Choo Low and WBSC Softball Chairman Tommy Velazquez.
