Sweden runs successful Softball Nordic Camp

The camp was run by WBSC Coach Commission member Craig Montvidas.

The Swedish Baseball and Softball Federation (SBSF, Svenska Baseboll & Softball Förbundet) recently organized the Nordic Softball Camp 2021. The international camp took place from 3-7 November at the Swedish Sports Confederation's facility in Bosön, near Stockholm,.

Sanna Hermansson, an SBSF Board member and chair of the Swedish Softball Committee, explained that the initiative's goal was to develop young athletes, educate coaches, and increase the relations between the Nordic countries.

Craig Montvidas, a former baseball player who led the Dutch softball National Team to multiple European Championships and is currently a member of the WBSC Coach Commission, coordinated the camp. He received support from top European athletes and coaches such as Judith Frijters, Elisa Cecchetti, Saskia Kosterink and Martina Lackner Kiel.

A total of 26 women's softball players aged 14-22 from Sweden and Denmark participated in the Nordic Camp, together with coaches from Sweden and Norway.

The camp included softball drills and excercises on the field, lectures and inspiring TED Talks.

"It was an excellent, educational experience for both players and coaches," commented Hermansson. "The camp was very successful."
