Swiss baseball/softball celebrates Awards Night

The Zurich Challengers won the Baseball National League A, while the Wittenbach Panthers won in Women's Softball. Baseball National Team manager Chris Byrnes was named the Coach of the Year.

The Swiss Baseball and Softball Federation (SBSF) celebrated its Awards Night at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Zurich.

In the baseball top division (NLA, National Liga A) the Therwil Flyers won three out of four awards. Takanabu Oshima earned MVP honours, Sven Leemann was awarded as the leading batter and Ferlon Gijsbertha was named the best pitcher. James Sanders of the 2023 champions Zurich Challengers earned the playoffs MVP Award.

Kim Zehnder, who led the Wittenbach Panthers to the 2023 Women's Softball NLA title, won both the regular season and the playoffs MVP Awards. Jody Fischer (Zurich Barracudas) was named the leading batter and Rio Sanchez (Lucern Eagles) earned best pitcher's honours.

Chris Byrnes, who managed Switzerland in their first European Championship, was named the Coach of the Year. Switzerland finished in 12th place with a 2-4 record.

Marc Fussenegger of the SBSF social media team was named the Official of the Year.
