Twelve teams will participate in a 66-game season over 11 weekends.

The Taiwan Women's Baseball League opened its third season on Saturday, 27 August, at the Tianmu Baseball Stadium, home of the Wei Chuan Dragons of the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). Lotte Taoyuan defeated Taipei Sunday, 3-2.

The 12 participating teams are Taipei High Match, Taipei Vanguard, Taipei Warriors, Taipei Sunday, Taipei Norna, Taipei Fearless, Taoyuan Goku, Taoyuan Rakuten, Taichung Sunflower, Tainan Lightning, Kaohsiung Anytime Fitness, and Kaohsiung Kapok.

The will compete in a 66-game season over 11 weekends.

The Taiwan Women's Baseball Advocate Association (TWBAA) manages the league.

The practice of women's baseball in Taiwan recently celebrated 20, TWBAA having released a movie about women's baseball on the island.

"It's an important milestone," commented Szu-Yao Wu, the Honorary President of TWBAA, after tossing opening day's ceremonial first pitch.

Jeffrey Koo, the president of the Chinese Taipei Baseball Association (CTBA), the Baseball Federation of Asia (BFA) and the first vice chairman of the WBSC Baseball Division, attended the opening game together with WBSC Baseball Division second vice chairman Bryan Minniti.

Chinese Taipei is currently second in the WBSC Women's Baseball World Rankings -- moving up the ladder after their best-ever performance at the Women's Baseball World Cup where they arrived to the final before falling to world No. 1 Japan.
