The maiden edition of the Baseball5 World Cup starts on 7 November in Mexico City, with 12 participating teams.

Baseball5 will celebrate its first-ever World Cup when it starts on 7 November in Mexico City, the fast and urban discipline that you can play everywhere. Here are 10 things that you must know about the tournament.

  • This is the first Baseball5 World Cup ever. The next edition is scheduled for 2024.
  • Mexico City hosts this event in the celebrated, historic Zocalo. Learn more about the host city here.
  • Twelve national teams will participate in the tournament. Cuba, Hong Kong, Japan, Lithuania, Mexico and South Africa are in Group A and Chinese Taipei, France, Kenya, Korea, Tunisia and Venezuela are in the Group B.
  • The whole tournament can be followed LIVE and worldwide through WBSC OTT Platform GameTime.
  • The tournament includes 50 games taking place from 7-13 November.
  • After the opening round, the three top teams from each group will play in the Super Round. First and second place in the Super Round will play the World Championship Final and third and fourth placed teams will play the Bronze Medal Game.
  • Baseball5 is played in games featuring a series of the best of three matches. Every match consists of five innings.
  • The tournament's opening game will feature Lithuania against the host Mexico.
  • The number of active players per team during a game is five. The defensive team must always have a minimum of two athletes per gender on the field. The same applies to the official line-up.
  • During the tournament the High5 Award will be awarded and anyone can participate by sharing the hashtag #B5High5. More details to come.
