WBSC certified instructor Jefferson Quintero will run the workshop.

The Dominican Baseball Federation (FEDOBE, Federación Dominicana de Béisbol) will hold on Friday, 23 April, an introductory course to Baseball5 at the auditorium of Dominican Sport Hall of Fame in the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, in Santo Domingo.

The course is aimed at coaches, instructors, physical education teachers and university sports directors.

"It's the start of something great," commented FEDOBE president Juan Núñez Nepomuceno. "Baseball5 represents the future of sports within a sport. The WBSC defines it well: a game that can be played anywhere."

Nepomuceno added: "We want our children to practice Baseball5 in school, and we aim at introducing it in universities, too."

The workshop will be run by Jefferson Quintero, a WBSC certified instructor, in coordination with a FEDOBE technical director.

The WBSC introduced Baseball5 to FEDOBE at the end of 2018. The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic slowed the development of the new five-on-five version of baseball/softball.

Baseball5 initiatives have been rolling out around the world, particularly now that it will be featured as an official medal sport at the next Youth Olympic Games in 2026.
