WBSC's 'GameTime Classics' series buzzing on social media

WBSC's Facebook page has recorded 9,500 more followers from 25 March to 30 April, while the official WBSC YouTube channel generated 12.1 million impressions from the new streaming series.

International baseball and softball seasons have been put on hold by the COVID-19 pandemic. This is the reason why the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) decided to look into its treasure chest of archives to feed baseball and softball fans with some past games that helped shape the international evolution of the sport.

And the WBSC's GameTime Classics series has proved to be a great success with 42 baseball and softball games streamed via WBSC YouTube channel and Facebook page so far.

From 25 March, when the online streaming series was launched, to 30 April, WBSC's Facebook page has been reached 6,9m times and added 9,500 followers.

During this period, the Classics series generated a total of 2.5 million views. This resulted in 4.4 million of minutes viewed, with an outstanding increase of 3,143% from the previous 37 days.

The video that enjoyed the most views (182,000) was the game between Mexico and USA in the U-12 Baseball World Cup 2017, which was streamed on 16 April.

Chinese Taipei vs. Mexico at the U-15 Baseball World Cup 2016 hit 148,000 views.

While the bronze medal game of the Premier12 2019 between Mexico and the USA, the game that earned a spot in the Olympics for Mexico, rang up 131,000 views.

New Zealand vs. Mexico at the Men's Softball World Cup 2019 reached 101,000 views.

The WBSC YouTube channel recorded in the period a total of 822,000 views and 12.1 million impressions with visitors watching a total of 77,000 hours of baseball and softball.
