Tom de Blok throws fourth perfect game in Dutch baseball league history

The former Detroit Tigers prospect and National Team hurler, used 80 pitches and 63 were strikes.

Tom de Blok pitched a seven-inning perfect game in the Dutch baseball league 'Hoofdklasse', as the Amsterdam Pirates shutout Kinheim 12-0 at Pim Mulier Stadium in Haarlem.

De Blok used 80 pitches, 63 for strikes, to complete the task. He struck out seven.

It's the fourth perfect game recorded in the Dutch major league' since the launch of the league in 1922. The first one was recorded in 1989 and was thrown by Craig McGinnis of Haarlem Nicols. Eelco Jansen (Kinheim, 1997) and Misja Harcksen (Neptunus Rotterdam, 2019) are the other two pitchers who made history.

De Blok, born in 1996, is a former minor leaguer in the Detroit Tigers organization. He helped the Netherlands win the 2016 European Baseball Championship. He also represented his country at the World Baseball Classic 2017 and the WBSC Europe/Africa Olympic Qualifier 2019.
