Welcome back to the WBSC Top-10 Baseball Plays of the Year, a review of the best 10 plays in the WBSC Baseball World Cups in 2023. USA's shortstop Manuelle Marin backhands a ball in the hole at shortstop for an out-at-first-base at the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup. This is our No. 9 baseball play of the year.

USA and Venezuela played their last Opening Round game in Taipei, with USA aiming for the first place in Group B and Venezuela eliminated from the Super Round. The game was played at Taipei Tianmu Baseball Stadium on 5 September.

With the game 4-1 for USA, Venezuela opened their last at bat with Anderson Tovar, who hit a grounder between shortstop and third base. Marin ranged deep into the hole to make a sweet backhand play and received a good scoop from Perry Morlando to get the out at first base.

Venezuela didn't score in the seventh inning and USA won the game 4-1.
