Tunisian Baseball Softball Federation honoured by National Olympic Committee for sports governance

The Olympic Torch award acknowledges the progress of the Tunisian Baseball Softball Federation in developing Baseball5, Baseball and Softball.

The Tunisian Baseball and Softball Federation (FTBS) was honoured at the annual Olympic Torch Ceremony of the Tunisian National Olympic Committee for its success on and off the field during 2022.

The FTBS received the Olympic Torch of Sports Governance, as voted by the country's sports journalists, in acknowledgement of the results it achieved in developing Baseball5, Baseball and Softball and the excellent performance of the national team in the first-ever Baseball5 African Championship in Tanzania, where they finished third, and the inaugural WBSC Baseball5 World Cup in Mexico, where they finished sixth.

It was the eighth edition of the Olympic Torch Ceremony, which sees the Tunisian Olympic Committee present 25 awards, crowning distinguished athletes, umpires, coaches and National Federations during the ceremony. The FTBS was also nominated for the Olympic Torch of Sports Governance award in 2021 but didn't win.

The WBSC Baseball5 World Cup was the first time Tunisia played in a WBSC World Cup becoming the 79th nation/territory (the ninth from Africa) to feature in World Cup history.
