Two homers spark Netherlands' 17-3 win over South Africa

The Netherlands earned a clear win as they outscored South Africa in five innings 17-3 in their second Placement Round game on Friday.

Right from the beginning, the Netherlands produced a string of runs in the bottom of the first against South Africa's Dylan O’Brien.
Darryl Collins’ single to left field sparked the Dutch rally, followed by Shervyen Newton, Jair Van Borkulo, and Tyriq Kemp who also singled, while Jeandro Tromp hit a two-RBI double and Yurdion Martie cleared the bases with a three-run homer.
Delano Selassa and Collins batted twice in the first inning, then South Africa were forced to give the call to Jesse Johnson in the bullpen.
Newton added a solo home run for the Netherlands to grab a 9-0 lead in the third.
South Africa scored two runs on a triple by Cornelis Miller and a sacrifice fly in the third and on a single by Cornin Greenslade in the fifth, which were not enough to avoid the end of the game on the run-difference rule after five.
