U-12 Baseball World Cup: Nicaragua defeat Australia and rain, Germany scare South Korea

TAINAN, Chinese Taipei-Also Day 5 of the U-12 Baseball World Cup is dealing with inclement weather. Nicaragua managed to make a huge step towards the super round defeating Australia in a game delayed by rain. Korea had to fight hard to beat a brave Germany

Also Day 5 of the U-12 Baseball World Cup payed a big toll to rain. Morning game were postponed and afternoon games began with relevant delays. The day got started with wins by Nicaragua (10-4 against Australia) and Korea (7-2 against Germany).

Nicaragua defeated (10-4) Australia in a game that may have excluded the aussie from the super round.
Australia came back from a 2-0 first inning deficit to take a 3-2 lead into the rain delay (2 outs, runner at first), after they got with 4 hits to starter Toruno in the bottom of the third. As the game resumed, reliever Bravo could get to the end of the inning with no further damage for Nicaragua.
The top of the fourth was the game. Australia starter Watson got 2 quick outs, then gave up a couple of walks and finally Nicaragua got to him with 3 singles in a row to take a 6-3 lead. Bravo helped himself and made it 8-3 with a 2 run home run.
Bravo went back to the mound in the bottom of the fourth and Tito Martinez and Bryant Machado pitched the remaining 2 innings, allowing only one run. Nicaragua added 2 on a hone run by Machado in the sixth.

Korea beat Germany 7-2 but had to fight hard to overcome the european resistance and earn a much needed win..
Starter Jeremy Trzeciak blanked Korea’s bats for 3 innings and then in his first at bat worked the count against reliever Lee Seongjin (who had just taken over for starter Kim Hyun Soo) to a bases loaded walk that put Germany ahead 1-0.
Korea took the lead in the fourth. Star center fielder Jang Jeongu reached second on an error and scored on shortstop Ji Seungwon single to left. Ji then stole second and third and scored on first baseman Jang Seongmu acrifice fly to left.
Germany was capable of tying the game in the fifth. Shortstop Huber led off with a double and forced Korea to move Jang Jeongu from center field to the mound. Huber got to third on a sacrifice bunt by catcher Schilke and thirdbaseman Redle followed with a ground out RBI.
A struggling defense (a total of 5 errors) gave Germany a wake up call from the dream in the bottom of the frame. Korea took full advantage of a couple of errors with a double by left fielder Lee Jinjung and base hits by Jang Jeongu and pinch hitter So Changhyun. Korea scored 5 runs to lead 7-2 and Kim Jiwook took care of the last 3 outs.
