U-12 Baseball World Cup: Panama keeps cruising, first win for Korea

TAINAN, Chinese Taipei-No surprises in the morning games of Day 2 of the U-12 Baseball World Cup. Panama remains undefeated, while Korea gets the first win. Germany and Australia still with no wins

There were no surprises in the morning games of Day 2 of the 2017 U-12 Baseball World Cup. Panama kept cruising with an easy 12-1 win in 5 innings against Germany and Korea earned their first win defeating Australia 8-0.

Germany got the lead in the second when Panama starter Villareal walked third baseman Trzeciak. A base hit by left fielder Kleehaupt brought Trzeciak to third and he then scored when center fielder Duenbostell grounded out to second.
Germany couldn’t back starter Sullivan in the bottom half of the frame, when Panama was helped by 4 defensive errors to manufacture an 8 run on 7 hits rally. They could cut it short to 5 frames adding 2 runs in the fourth and 2 in the fifth.

Korea’s pitching was simply too much for Australia, that got their lonely hit off starter Kim Jongwoo, who also walked 2. Cho Beomgyu and Yook Synyeop were perfect after Kim and the 3 combined 11 strike outs.
Korea got to Australia’s starter Hutton pretty early and used 12 hits and 3 defensive errors to score 8 for the shut out win. Center fielder Jang Seongmu hit a couple of doubles and batted in 3 runs.
