U-18 Baseball World Cup: the All World Team

The U-18 Baseball World Cup 2019 is in the books. The World Baseball Softball Confederation announced during the closing ceremony the All World Team and the Individual Awarda. The 2021 edition will be played in Sarasota, Florida

Gijang, Korea–The final of the U-18 Baseball World Cup was followed by the closing ceremony where WBSC announced the All World Team and the Individual Awards.

“This past week has been a celebration of the world’s finest U-18 baseball players.”
WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari congratulated the participants to the U-18 Baseball World Cup in a brief speech during the closing ceremony.
“We have seen high-level games, that shows how baseball is growing and globalizing.”
Fraccari then addressed the players themselves: “You are the stars of the future.”

The USA was the team most represented in the All-World Team, with four players. Japan followed with two. Spain, Canada, Korea, Chinese Taipei and The Netherlands all had one player.

Yu Chien, the starting pitcher and the winner of the final, was named the tournament MVP.
“I am honest,” commented Yu Chien through a translator “when they awarded me, I was not sure what it was all about. I want to share this award with my teammates. They all helped me live this unforgettable experience.”

Yu Chien received the MVP Award from Jim Baba, the Technical Director of the tournament

Kim Jichan of Korea was named the best hitter with a 541 average. He also stole 9 bases and was voted the outstanding defensive player. Robert Hassell of the USA had the most runs batted in (14) and the most runs scored (13)
Kyle Harrison, who allowed no runs in 9.1 innings pitched before the final, earned best pitcher’s honours.

The closing ceremony of the U-18 Baseball World Cup was attended by the representatives of Sarasota (Florida, USA), that will host the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2021.

President Riccardo Fraccari hands the WBSC flag to the representatives of Sarasota
