Uganda sweeps Kenya in Mt. Elgon Baseball Championship

The national teams and U-23 sides of Uganda and Kenya took part in the three-game series.

Uganda swept Kenya in the Mt. Elgon Baseball Championship, which was held in Gazaya, just outside of Kampala in Uganda. Mt. Elgon is an extinct volcano on the border of Uganda and Kenya.

The event, sanctioned by the WBSC, included a three-game series between the two National Teams and between the U-23 squads.

Uganda won the three games between the National Teams 20-0, 21-2, 26-6 and also swept the U-23 series 26-0, 18-1, 15-0.

The Baseball Federation of Kenya took all the necessary health and safety measures regarding Covid precautions, including the full vaccination of the teams for Covid and Yellow Fever, for the bus trip, which takes 13 hours from Nairobi to Kampala.

Each delegation member went through anti-COVID testing before leaving Kenya and before returning to the country.
