Unique in Sport

WBSC is the first and only international sports federation to stage World Cups starting with the U-12 level.

“In addition to being one of the world’s major professional sports, baseball and softball also combine to represent one of the biggest youth sports movements in the world,” said WBSC Executive Director Michael Schmidt. “WBSC is the only international sports federation that stages official World Cups in this youth age-bracket, but other sports organisations are now actively targeting the youth sector, so we have to continue working hard to maintain a leading position. The new $130 million official stadium of the U-12 Baseball World Cup will help us inspire more youth athletes to play our sport and dream of playing here.”
