Professional baseball in Panama will open its season in December. The president of the professional league (PROBEIS) David Salayandia told the press that the plan is to have the season concluded by mid-January.
Salayandia also told the press that it is "very likely" that all of the games of the four-team league will be played "in a single stadium" and "behind closed doors" under the limitations imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
PROBEIS is discussing the security protocols with the nation's Ministry of Health.
The professional League in Puerto Rico (LBPRC, Liga de Béisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente) is also aiming to begin the season in December. President Juan Flores Galarza told journalists that this will happen "as long as we receive permission from the government."
The goal for the six-team league is to play a 30-game regular season.
The Puerto Rican Baseball Federation (FBAPR, Federación de Béisbol Aficionado de Puerto Rico ) is also strictly following the directives from the government. President José Quiles told the press that his goal is to resume the Double-A League in August. The season was suspended on 12 March amid the COVID-19 outbreak. The return to play protocols will be based on WBSC guidelines.
Nicaragua's Superior Baseball Commission (CNBS, Comision Nicaraguense de Béisbol Superior) has extended the suspension of the Germán Pomares National Baseball Championship to 26 June.
