The doubleheader played between the Boston Red Sox and the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on 8 September turned out to be a duel between two everyday players of the team that represented the United States at the WBSC Premier12 2019: Alec Bohm and Bobby Dalbec.
The Phillies won the first seven-inning game, 6-5, and third baseman Bohm, who was batting eighth, got three hits and four RBIs. Bohm walked the game off with a two-out and two-RBI single off Boston closer Matt Barnes.
Dalbec, who had homered in the first game, went deep again in the sixth inning of the second game. His three-run homer off reliever David Phelps became his fifth in his only nine MLB games.
Dalbec, US National Team first baseman and the All-World Team DH at the 2019 Premier12, homered in his first MLB game.
Bohm, a 24-year old rookie, has appeared in 24 games for the Phillies during the 2020 season. He has 25 hits, including two home runs, over 86 at-bats, with 15 RBIs.
Bohm played eight games at third base for the US during the Premier12 2019 (he is pictured in the cover; the photo is from the Super Round game against Chinese Taipei), collecting seven hits, including a home run and over 30 at-bats.
