World No. 1 USA, No. 6 Mexico, No. 5 Puerto Rico and No. 18 Brazil advanced to the inaugural edition of the WBSC U-15 Women’s Softball World Cup after the conclusion of the category’s Pan American Championship on Saturday. USA defeated Mexico in the Pan American Championship final, 9-0, and claimed the first ever continental title in this age bracket played in Lima, Peru.
After the conclusion of the Super Round, USA (5-0), Mexico (4-1), Puerto Rico (3-2) and Brazil (1-4) moved to the medal games. Brazil came out victorious from a triple-tie with world No. 22 Venezuela and No. 19 Peru to clinch the last Americas spot in the World Cup. Puerto Rico defeated Brazil, 5-2, in the bronze medal game.
The first WBSC U-15 Women’s Softball World Cup is scheduled to be played from 21-29 October in Tokyo, Japan, at the Komazawa Olympic Park Sports Complex, a legacy of the Tokyo 1964 Olympic Games.

The four American nations join host and world No. 2 Japan, No. 7 Czechia, No. 8 Italy and No. 28 New Zealand in the tournament. The Asia qualifier for the World Cup will be staged in Puli, Taiwan, from 13-17 June. The top-two teams in the final standings will qualify for the World Cup.
