USA Softball launches the International Cup

The first edition is scheduled to happen in Irvine (California) from Monday, 9 July, to Sunday, 15 July. The USA Softball International Cup will take the place of the World Cup of Softball

The first edition is scheduled to happen in Irvine (California) from Monday, 9 July, to Sunday, 15 July. The USA Softball International Cup will take the place of the World Cup of Softball, which USA Softball has hosted since 2005, following the launch of the WBSC Softball World Cup flagship.

The USA Softball International Cup is sanctioned by WBSC.

The 3 top countries in WBSC World Rankings (USA, Japan and Canada) will all participate to the International Cup. Other Nations expected to participate are Chinese Taipei (number 5), Puerto Rico (6), Mexico (7), Czech Republic (10), China (12), Philippines (15), Venezuela (17), Peru (19) and Colombia (31).

ESPN networks will televise 5 games. All other games will be streamed live through USASoftball.com website.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming the top teams in the world and introducing the USA Softball International Cup”, said USA Softball Executive Director, Craig Cress.  “We can’t wait to take this event to the West Coast and showcase the talents of these international teams.
