USA vs Japan: Worlds No. 1 and No. 2 to face off in Japan in rematch of Tokyo 2020 final

The first two games of the Japan All-Star Series will be played in Fukushima, with the final match staged in Yokohama -- sites of the Tokyo 2020 Games. Both teams have revealed their rosters for the clash.

The Japan Softball Association (JSA) announced today the schedule of the Japan All-Star Series, a three-game series between the top two teams in the world: No. 1 USA and No. 2 Japan. The games will be a rematch of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, where both teams battled for the gold medal.

The first two games of the Japan All-Star Series will be played in Fukushima, with the final match staged in Yokohama -- sites of the Tokyo 2020 Games. The series is sanctioned by WBSC.

The first two games of the series will be played on 6 and 7 August in Fukushima, with the third game scheduled on 8 August in Yokohama. JSA has launched a dedicated website for the event (in Japanese).

"The games will be held at Fukushima Azuma Stadium and Yokohama Stadium, which were the venues for the Tokyo Olympic softball games, as part of our ongoing efforts to carry on the Olympic legacy and to support the recovery from the earthquake,” said Yutaka Miyake, Chair of the JSA. “We hope you will be able to enjoy a reenactment of the Tokyo Olympics final game between Japan and the U.S., which you were unable to attend due to the lack of spectators."

JSA also announced the roster for this competition, including Tokyo 2020 Olympic gold medallists Yukiko Ueno, Miu Goto, Yamato Fujita, Haruka Agatsuma, Yuka Ichiguchi, Hitomi Kawabata, Minori Naito and Nodoka Harada. You can see Japan’s full roster here.

USA has announced its roster for the Japan series back in May.
