Venezuela announce roster for WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup

The 20-man roster includes four catchers, four infielders, three outfielders and nine pitchers.

Two days away from the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup, world No. 6 Venezuela unveiled their official roster for the competition, set to begin on Thursday in Taiwan. The 20-man roster includes four catchers, four infielders, three outfielders and nine pitchers.

  • Pitchers: Luan Agudelo; Kenny Dania; Brian Fernández; Dilan Fernández; Maximo González; Oscar Melgarejo; Juanagel Pérez; Ulises Reyes; Sebastián Sánchez
  • Catchers: Esmeiquel Arrieche; Gabriel Davalillo; Francisco Rivero and Randy Soto.
  • Infielders: Elaineiker Coronado; Carlos Garcés; Adrián Meza and Yimy Tovar.
  • Outfielders: Christian Arguellez; Breyson Guedez and Anderson Tovar

The Venezuelan squad is back in the tournament after 10 years, since their last appearance was in 2013, when they finished in sixth place. It was coincidentally the last time the U-18 Baseball World Cup was hosted in Taiwan.

Venezuela finished fourth in the Americas Qualifier played in November last year, behind USA, Panama and Mexico - first, second and third place respectively - and qualified for the 13th WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup. They have finished fourth in three occasions, their best final position to date.

Venezuela will open the World Cup in Group B, along with No. 1 Japan, No. 2 USA, No. 7 the Netherlands, No. 11 Panama and No. 21 Spain.
