Venezuela announce World Baseball Classic coaching staff

Carlos Mendoza, MLB's New York Yankees bench coach, will serve in the same position for Venezuela.

The Venezuelan Baseball Federation (FEVEBEISBOL) announced six members of the coaching staff serving under manager Omar Lopez at the World Baseball Classic 2023.

Carlos Mendoza, who has been the bench coach for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB) since 2019, will serve as the bench coach.

Former professional pitcher Ivan Arteaga will be the pitching coach, with Luis Ramirez serving as the bullpen coach.

The coaching staff includes hitting coach Rodolfo Hernandez, the mentor of former MLB batting champion Luis Arraez.

Ramon Borrego, who has experience as a manager in the US minor leagues and Venezuela, will work as the third base coach, while Rouglas Odor will serve as the first base coach.

World No. 6 Venezuela will compete in Group C in Miami, Florida, USA, and face No. 7 Dominican Republic, No. 15 Nicaragua, No. 16 Puerto Rico, and No. 20 Israel.
