Venezuela prepares for Baseball5 World Cup with first national championship

The tournament is seen as ideal preparation for Venezuela’s participation in the inaugural Baseball5 World Cup taking place in the El Zocalo, Mexico City from 7-13 November

The Venezuela Baseball Federation (FEVEBISBOL) completed its first Baseball5 National Championship on Sunday with a total of 64 athletes participating over the weekend with eight teams representing different States competing for the title.

With FEVEBISBOL president Aracelis Léon watching on, hosts Lara beat Falcón in a thrilling final, winning the first game 4-3 before claiming the second game 2-1. Falcón had defeated Carabobo 2-0 and Lara 4-3 in the semifinals before losing to the Capital District 2-1. Lara, meanwhile, reached the final by beating the Capital District 4-2 and Carabobo 5-1.

The tournament is seen as ideal preparation for Venezuela’s participation in the inaugural Baseball5 World Cup taking place in the El Zocalo, Mexico City from 7-13 November. The members of the Venezuela team and coaching staff will be announced this week.
