Venezuela tops Colombia in 18-8 slugfest to close their run at U-15 Baseball World Cup

Venezuela's Breyson Guedez and Luis Cova each had four RBIs in Friday’s night 18-8 win against Colombia in the 7th-9th Place Round.

Venezuela recovered from a seven-run deficit in the top of the first, putting 17 unanswered runs on the scoreboard, including an 11-run second inning. Guedez, Manuel Bolívar and Jonathan Rangel scored three runs each.

Colombia used six pitchers in the game, but all of them ended with at least one run against. The losing pitcher was Angel Beltran.

For Venezuela, Carlos Pernalete earned the win, striking out five in four innings, while allowing three hits and one run.

Venezuela ends their participation in the Placement Round for 7th-9th place with 1-1 record. Tomorrow, Mexico and Colombia will close this group to determine the final standings.
