VI WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup players enjoy city tour in Tainan

The Government of Tainan treated nine participating teams to visit the city's attractions and taste the local cuisine.

TAINAN, Taiwan -- Tainan City Government, the host of the VI WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup, took nine participating teams to tour the city on Wednesday, 3 August. The players had a chance to visit the schools that are backing the teams.

Eleven elementary schools from Tainan City were designated to welcome the participating teams. School children were encouraged to learn the language and presented their self-made cheering banners during the pre-event press conference. The nine teams received a warm welcome from the host students. The schools presented the teams with gifts.

Tainan City Mayor Che-Wei Huang participated in the day.

“The most valuable experience for the children is to build friendships with children from all over the world. We welcome all the teams to explore the city and enjoy the cuisines we are especially proud of. I hope everyone can enjoy the experience today.”

Starting Thursday, 4 August, the VI WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup will enter the super round stage. The top two finishers of the super round will compete in the World Championship final, while the third and fourth place teams will compete for a bronze medal.

The finals are scheduled for Sunday, 7 August, at the Asia-Pacific International Baseball Stadium.
