Watch the U-15 Women’s South American Softball Championship in Ecuador

Fans can watch all games of the six-team regional tournament through YouTube.

The VI U-15 Women’s South American Softball Championship opened on Monday in Manta, Ecuador, with six participating teams. Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador Blue, Ecuador Yellow, Mexico (guest) and Peru will play a single round-robin through 7 October, with a single page playoff to crown a champion on 9 October. All games are being live-streamed on YouTube.

Four games were played on Monday in Manta, with a three pitching gems. In the first game, Peru defeated Ecuador Yellow 15-0 in three innings. Pitcher Aimi Tohara pitched a 3-inning perfect game, striking out the nine batters she faced. 

In addition, Mexico collected a pair of no-hitters on Day 1. Jenny Robledo pitched a no-hit against Colombia (5-0), while Silvia Guerrero didn’t allow any hit in a 14-0 win over Ecuador Blue.  

This is the first time the regional championship is played in Ecuador. The first five editions of this event were played in Peru. 

This year’s event pays homage to “Antonio Morales Arrieta”, the long-time Colombian softball leader who passed away this past May.

The WBSC will host the maiden U-15 Women’s Softball World Cup in 2023 with 12 participating teams. The continental qualifiers are expected to take place next year.
