WBCQ: New Zealand makes it to the final

New Taipei City. New Zeland beat (10-6) error (7) plagued Philippines and advanced to the final in the New Taipei City World Baseball Classic Qualifier. The all black kiwis will now contend a spot in the main tournament to the hosts Chinese Taipei on Sunday 11/18 at 1 pm US ET (7 pm CET).

The Philippines scored the go ahead run against relevier Wilson in the bottom of the second on an RBI single by lead off hitter Ramirez.
After 2 scoreless innings, Philippines starter Charlie Labrador was heavily damaged by 2 defensive errors in the third, that resulted in 3 runs. In the fifth New Zealand got to the opposing pitcher with a couple of singles by Auty and Boss Moanaroa and opened the score to 6-1. A base hit by Moko Moanaroa and a double by Bishop off reliever Bryce Ramirez helped New Zealand score 3 more runs in the seventh.

The Philippines come back attempt fell short in the eigth. Kiwi defense (2 errors) didn’t help reliever Nick Dawson, who left without getting an out. The Philippines scored against Joseph Boyce on a single by Bryce Ramirez and New Zealand needed to go to Lincoln Holdzkom to end the threat. The reliever got the inning ending ground ball from Nacapoy.
