WBSC announces Baseball5 World Cup Calendar 2021-2029

The Baseball5 World Cup calendar includes the Baseball5 World Cup on even years and the Youth Baseball5 World Cup (14-18 age bracket) on odd years.

The World Baseball Softball Confederation today announced the WBSC Baseball5 World Cup calendar for the period of 2021 to 2029.

The WBSC Executive Board decided in December 2020 to formally launch world-level activity of the new 5-on-5 urban discipline in 2022. Thus, the 2021 season will be dedicated to the qualifying tournaments for the inaugural WBSC Baseball5 World Cup in 2022.

The Baseball5 World Cup calendar includes the Baseball5 World Cup on even years and the Youth Baseball5 World Cup (14-18 age bracket) on odd years. The events will happen on a two-year cycle.

The first Baseball5 World Cup was originally scheduled to take place in 2020 and was then postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2019 Europe Championship saw France and Lithuania qualify for the inaugural Baseball5 World Cup.

The first Youth Baseball5 World Cup is scheduled for 2023, with dedicated continental qualifiers set for 2022.

The Youth Baseball5 World Cup in 2025 will serve as a qualifier to the next Youth Olympic Games, which will take place in Dakar, Africa, in 2026.
