WBSC Asia hosts 47 coaches, 38 officials for Baseball5 seminar in China

Ayako Rokkaku and Takeru Miyanohara worked with 47 coaches. Sujeewa Wijayanayake instructed 38 game officials.

WBSC Asia and Softball Asia held two intense Baseball5 clinics from 13 to 17 December in Zhongshan, China.

WBSC licensed instructors Ayako Rokkaku and Takeru Miyanohara ran a seminar for 47 coaches. The course included classes and work in the field.

Sujeewa Wijayanayake, BFA deputy umpire director, went through officiating and scoring a Baseball5 game with 38 game officials. After the seminar, the officials went on duty in the China National Championship.

"Coaches and officials improved their Baseball5 knowledge together as a family," commented Wijayanayake. "This seminar marked a huge step forward for Baseball5 development in Asia."

China participated in the inaugural WBSC Youth Baseball5 World Cup in Ankara, Türkiye in October 2023, finishing in 5th place, ahead of Asian representatives Chinese Taipei and Korea.

China's Xiaoyu Liu was included in the All World Team at the WBSC Youth Baseball5 World Cup.
