WBSC Athlete Representative Election: Baseball members confirmed, Softball candidates announced

Ayako Rokkaku (pictured - No 36) has been confirmed as a women's baseball athlete representative along with Wing Ki Mui of Hong Kong.

The WBSC has announced the four athlete representatives for men's and women's baseball have been confirmed, while the official candidates for the Athlete Representative Election for women's and men's softball have been listed following the passing of the deadline for nominations and subsequent screening process.

Eight athletes will be elected in total - two men's baseball, two women's baseball, two men's softball, and two women's softball representatives. Since only two nominations were received for men's and women's baseball respectively, the nominated athletes are confirmed for the positions.

The confirmed athlete representatives are:

The election candidates are:

Following the elections, the Athletes' Commission will determine which four athletes will serve on WBSC Executive Board and which four will serve on the Division Board.

The official campaigning period will run through Monday, 31 October with electronic voting set to take place from 1-9 November. For more info contact: elections@wbsc.org

The WBSC Elections By-Laws state that the voting right belongs to all athletes under WBSC Member Federations in good standing.

Athlete Representatives, Athlete's Commission or National Team of each WBSC Member Federation shall collect polls from their respective athletes. Then, on behalf of their athletes, the National Federation will submit the final vote in writing. The president and the secretary-general will sign the declaration.

The WBSC will hold an Extraordinary Congress in written form on Thursday, 24 November to approve the elected athlete representatives and the athlete representatives' ratification in the WBSC Executive Board and the Baseball and Softball Division Boards.
