The last Opening Round day ended with wins for South Africa, Chinese Taipei, Cuba, Kenya, Mexico and Venezuela.

The last day of the WBSC Baseball5 World Cup Opening Round at El Zocalo in Mexico City was full of emotion and drama as teams chased Super Round spots with South Africa, Chinese Taipei, Cuba, Kenya, Mexico and Venezuela all winning on Thursday.

In the first game of the day, South Africa claimed their second win of the tournament against Lithuania in a tight game, winning the first match 6-4, before losing the second 10-2 and then fighting back to win the decider 4-1.

The day's second game ended with a comfortable win for Chinese Taipei against France. The Asian side won the first match 12-0 and the second one 13-3 to end the Super Round with a 4-1 record.

Cuba ended the Opening Round undefeated after a win in two matches against Japan. The Caribbean team won the first match 2-0 and the second 5-2 to record their fifth win of the tournament.

Then Kenya recorded a historic win in a close game against Korea. The African Championship runners-up registered 1-0 and 3-1 wins to move to a 2-3 win-loss record.

To close the morning, Mexico battled hard against Hong Kong to secure a spot in the Super Round. Hong Kong won the first match 1-0 before the hosts overcame the deficit winning the second 5-1 and the third for the minimum difference.

In the only afternoon game, Venezuela maintained their unbeaten record with a win over Tunisia but they didn't have it all their own way. Venezuela won the first match 8-6 before claiming the second 4-3 after coming back from 3-1 down in the top of the fifth.

After three exciting days, six teams secured their spot in the Super Round in the quest to be the first-ever Baseball5 World Champion. Cuba, Japan, Mexico, Venezuela, Chinese Taipei and Tunisia keep their hopes alive to reach the World Championship Final.

Cuba and Venezuela topped their respective groups unbeaten with Japan and Mexico finishing in second and third place respectively in Group A behind Cuba, both with a 3-2 win-loss record (Japan's win against Mexico puts them in second place).

In Group B, Chinese Taipei finished second with Tunisia, Kenya and France all finishing with a 2-3 win-loss record. According to the Tournament Regulations, they were separated by the average runs scored per inning in the games between the three teams.

Tunisia qualified to the Super Round while the two-way tie between France and Kenya is broken in favour of Kenya, who won the game between the two teams.
